We all want to have a clean and tidy home with minimal efforts, after all cleaning is not the first thing that comes into our mind when we get back from another hard day at the office. And this routine repeats every single day of the week, which leaves us the weekends to do all the accumulated during the week work. We often ask ourselves if there is another way – how can we make cleaning less time consuming and easier.
Well for starters you can ask the other family members for support, after all you can’t possibly imagine to handle with everything all by yourself do you? At least not if you want to get any sleep, after all a weekday is not the best time to do a thorough bathroom or carpet cleaning. I think cooking, laundering, ironing and washing the dishes is more than enough. If you can persuade some of the family members to help you with the chores it will be great, but if you can’t forget about having free time at weekends.
Help Yourself
Although you can’t possibly deal with everything there are some things you can do in order to reduce the amount of work you’ll have to do. For starters make sure all the family members put things where they belong. After they’ve taken something a magazine for example they’ll have to put it where they took it from, that way you won’t spend time in tidying the living-room. Another thing are the dishes – whoever finishes last will wash them, that was my mother’s way of making us eat faster.
Dust and dirt – this is a big problem which should be handled every day as well as vacuuming the carpets, rugs and mopping the floor. Leave this chore to some of the family members and if they don’t agree tell them to take your chores and you’ll take care of this. This techniques comes out pretty effective especially if you’re dealing with a teenager. This is the key to a successful co-existence everyone has to do their part.
You can even explain and show how some of the more though chores are done and if your family understands and wants to help you they’ll surprise you by cleaning the entire house so you can have a free day. Believe it or not mine did, one Saturday I was getting back from the supermarket with all the necessary cleaning products and ingredients for a wonderful meal. Imagine my surprise when I saw the entire home cleaned for matter of hours, even the carets and furniture.
I was so grateful that I could spend a day with my loved ones, we went on a walk, played some games all in all a lazy day. I cooked a meal for all and they helped me, after dinner we watched a movie and talked about the day. A finally decided to ask them how they managed to cope with everything in a matter of hours while I was gone and they simply answered they didn’t do anything. All they did was pick up the phone and hired a cleaning company.
